Winter Tisane

Winter Tisane

Anise forms the basis for this healthy aromatic tea that is good for the prevention and treatment of winter colds and congestion. Anise has an intense licorice flavor that can be overly strong on its own, it works best as a undertone to other herbs in tea blends. This old fashioned country tisane features two herbs not found in most modern gardens; costmary and comfrey that will invoke memories of summer while they comfort and relieve cold symptoms.

Ingredients:
  • One part anise seeds
  • One part costmary (or other mint
  • )
  • Two parts chamomile
  • One part dried comfrey leaf*
Dried comfrey leaves contain very low levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, however some herbalists do not recommend internal use.
