Catnip essential oil is very expensive, but because of its efficacy, even a 1 percent concentration will repel mosquitoes. For a stronger solutions (5 - 10 %) use
  • 2.5 to 5 tsps. catnip essential oil
  • 1 cup carrier oil
For use in a spray bottle mix 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of catnip essential oil to 1 cup of isopropyl alcohol, and 1 cup of water. Shake well and then spray lightly on clothing, arms, and legs, being careful to avoid eyes or open cuts. Do not use on the skin of small children. Some persons may be sensitive to catnip oil.
