Classic Essiac Blend

Classic Essiac Blend

Classic essiac blend

The classic version of the tea contains just four herbs: organic burdock root, organic rhubarb root, organic slippery elm bark, and organic sheep sorrel. Newer versions of the tea add blessed thistle, kelp, red clover, and watercress. There is a multitude of conflicting information on how much to take and for how long. Personally I would not take this formula for any extended period of time, except under the advice of a qualified practitioner.

  • Classic Recipe
  • 1.5 lbs. Burdock Root, Cut
  • 1 lb. Sheep Sorrel leaf, Powder
  • 4 oz. Slippery Elm Bark, Powder
  • 1 oz. Turkey Rhubarb Root, Powder

Cautions: Essiac should be avoided by people who have kidney stones. Essiac contains stimulant laxatives and can cause diarrhea and gastrointestinal discomfort and frequent urination. Drink plenty of water to assist your body in the detoxification process. Herbs in this formula can cause allergic reactions and negative effects can occur with high doses.

Equivalence Measures

1 dash = 3 drops to 1/4 teaspoon (liquid)
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon = 1/2 ounce (liquid and dry)
