Welcome to Annie's Remedy.

Mildred Rheumatoid arthritis has been has been passed down in my family from mother to daughter for many generations. My grandmother, Mildred Furber suffered so much, yet never let it stop her from living a full and active life, and she continues to be the source of my inspiration. Today's drugs are powerful, but come with many side effects, and whenever possible I find myself turning to natural remedies.

The advent of the internet age has made the gathering of information quicker, easier than in the past, however this gain is balanced by the amount of pure crap you have to wade through to find the gems of knowledge. It has been my goal to gather up these gems, like a cook gathering recipes, so that the disparate bits of information are gathered together to form a synergistic knowledge base that I can refer to when making decisions about my own health concerns.

If something works, I am going to use it, and it doesn't matter one whit to me whose idea it is, or what culture first came up with it. Why should we limit ourselves, and choose only those treatments that are "natural" or those treatments that are "scientific" ?

There are many herbs that fight the pain and inflammation of arthritis and joint pain. My personal preference is to look first to herbs that grow locally, and especially those who I can cultivate in my own garden. As any backyard gardner worth their salt knows, all plants, no matter what the species, are limited by the chemicals they can produce from sunlight and soil. For every big-name herb on the market cut from the rain forest or dug from the mountains, there is most likely a plant with a similar action growing in your local watershed. Some of the best medicinal plants grow unheralded in vacant lots and neglected gardens around the world.

The purpose of these pages is to serve as a reference, a distillation of everything I have learned that has helped or hindered my own quest for healthy living. I hope you will find something here that helps you also. Do with it what you will. It is a work in progress, so check back often!

You can contact me with questions, but there are some types of inquires I wont answer such as

  • Personal health: I am not a doctor, or a certified herbalist, and am unqualified to give health care advice. Even if I felt qualified, internet consultations are a bad idea, and I would shy away from those websites who offer them.

  • Link exchanges: Link exchanges are no longer being accepted. Links on my resource page are links that I feel offer good, solid herbal information , the gems ;) . If you know of a website that deserves to be included by all means email me the information and I will consider it.
  • Product ads : The same as above. For the most part, I leave the advertising to Google ads, and neither endorse or have any control over the content of those ads. They pay the bills. Caveat Emptor
  • Spam : Spam me all you want, my spam filter are set to discard most of it. I never buy or respond to unsolicited commercial emails, and the internet would be a better place for all of us if no one did.
