peppermint
Peppermint is a natural treatment for IBS

IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, also called spastic colon and mucous colitis, is a collection of symptoms that are caused by irritability and irregularity in the movement of both the small and the large intestines. IBS is a common disorder of the intestines that leads to crampy pain, gassiness, bloating, and changes in bowel habits.

Many herbs and aromatic oils improve the function of the digestive system while calming nervous conditions that cause tension and stomach cramping. Caraway has been used with success in combination with peppermint oil in treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. 1 Gentle laxatives such as coffee, chickory and Dandelion help the liver and kidneys to do their work and keeping the bowels in a healthy condition.2

IBSHerbs and spices when used in preparation of a healthy diet can help maintain good digestion. One exception may be the overuse of hot peppers such as cayenne which may over stimulate the bowel.
