Ulcers, Canker Sores
Cat's Claw * Chamomile * Comfrey Root * Elm, Slippery * Goldenseal * Marsh Mallow Root * Meadowsweet * Peppermint *
Herbs that have vulnerary and demulcent properties such as comfrey, marshmallow, and slippery elm speed healing and sooth ulcers of the stomach, peptic ulcers.
Bitters & Syrups
My old standby is a simple cup of chamomile Matricaria recutita tea which acts on both the physical level to calm inflammation and heal the damage, and as a sedative to ease the stress that can worsen/or even cause ulcers in the first place.
Meadowsweet and peppermint both act as antacids, with peppermint being by far the more pleasant tea to drink. Common cabbage juice can help heal stomach ulcers In one study, 100 people with peptic ulcers drank 4 glasses of fresh cabbage juice daily; 81 were symptom-free in one week.
Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining. Many people do not realize that indigestion(dyspepsia), heartburn, and abdominal pain may be caused by gastritis. Long term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), can also cause gastritis making it a common condition among people who suffer from arthritis. Chronic inflammation can cause the stomach lining to be "eaten away," leading to sores (peptic ulcers) in the stomach.
Canker sores are painful open sores inside the mouth or upper throat that can be treated with many of the same remedies.
