This hypericated oil is a useful external application for damaged skin. You need to have access to your own fresh flowers, the dried herb does not extract in oil. Because of the high cost of St. Johns oil, you may want to "stretch" it by combining with other oils that are healing to the skin, and apply it sparingly when using full strength.

Recipe Instructions: Herbal Oil Infusions :
  1. Combine 1 part by weight of the fresh herb: 3 parts by volume of olive oil.
  2. Bruise the stems, leaves and flowers.
  3. Put in a clean jar and cover completely with olive oil.
  4. Set in a warm window for 2 weeks.
  5. Strain and add more fresh tops.
  6. Let set for another 2 weeks.
  7. Strain into a clean jar and cap.
  8. The finished oil is a lovely red color.
